What is financial advice?

Financial advice is when a qualified, licensed adviser helps you decide what to do with your finances to reach a certain goal. You could get advice on part or all of your money, including your super.

There are 3 types of financial advice:

  • General advice is general information that doesn't take into account your circumstances – like how super works or what investment options we offer.
  • Personal advice is specific to your financial situation, needs, and goals. We offer one-off personal advice about your super account with us.1
  • Full financial advice is information about more than just your super and retirement planning. It looks at your entire financial situation.

FAQs about financial advice

Need help booking your advice appointment, or looking for general advice about our products and services? Contact us today.

Your adviser will help you through the process but if you want to get the most out of your appointment, here's how you can prepare:

Write down your goals and start picturing your dream retirement lifestyle.

Once you have a picture of what the future looks like, it becomes possible to work towards making it happen.

Fill in and send us your pre-appointment questionnaire.

To prepare your personalised financial plan, your adviser needs to know a bit about your financial situation. We'll send you a questionnaire once your appointment is confirmed.

It depends on what type of advice you need. As a member with us, you can access general advice resources and get personal advice about your super account as part of your membership.1

If you have a financial adviser, we can work with them when you need comprehensive financial advice. Your adviser will let you know what the fees are and your payment options.

Yes, your partner can join your advice appointment if you're happy with this. If your partner is also a QSuper member, we can give you both advice in the same appointment.
