Retirement often signals a new stage of ‘‘life after work’’. But for John Sharman, the freedom to do what he loves means continuing a 56-year career in computing.
“I still fix computers because I enjoy it,” John said.
“It’s fun, it’s challenging, and it keeps my mind active. I’m a problem solver.”
After many years as a computer programmer, these days the 76-year-old sets his own pace and works around his other part-time job – driving a bus that takes residents on day outings for a private organisation.
Super and retirement
John says that when it comes to money, he is not a big risk taker and is very happy with QSuper products.
“In the long term, I can relax knowing I have people looking after my super who know what they are doing,” he said.
QSuper is something of a family affair; John’s mother Joyce Sharman, 100, his wife Margaret and brother Russell also have QSuper accounts, as did his father Bill (deceased).
