Part of the broadcast was a live Q&A and approximately 170 thoughtful questions were sent in from viewers. Below are some of the topics that attracted many questions from our members.
A number of members wanted to know whether the market volatility experienced over the past few months had put any strains on QSuper’s liquidity. QSuper currently holds about 20% of its assets in liquid cash instruments.
In a similar vein, QSuper members are keen to know whether QSuper has sufficient liquidity to manage the number of members who might apply to access funds early as part of the temporary coronavirus and early access to super rules.
As announced in March, QSuper and Sunsuper have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enter a period of exclusive due diligence to explore a merger. A number of viewers asked for an update on progress.
Part of the Investment Update broadcast compared the asset allocation of QSuper’s Balanced investment option against the industry average. This prompted questions about how QSuper’s Balanced investment option compares in terms of performance.
The Australian Government has announced a temporary reduction to superannuation minimum drawdown requirements for account-based pensions (such as QSuper’s Income account) and similar products by 50% for 2019-20 and 2020-21.
