Thank you to the many members who logged in recently to watch the QSuper Market Insight online broadcast, hosted by Chief Investment Officer Charles Woodhouse.
Part of the broadcast was a live Q&A and approximately 170 thoughtful questions were sent in from viewers. Below are some of the topics that attracted many questions from our members.
QSuper’s liquidity as a result of market volatility
Show content
A number of members wanted to know whether the market volatility experienced over the past few months had put any strains on QSuper’s liquidity. QSuper currently holds about 20% of its assets in liquid cash instruments.
Early access and QSuper members
Show content
There is a dropdown ‘Early access and QSuper members’. Reword this to read: QSuper members were keen to know whether QSuper had sufficient liquidity to manage the number of members who might apply to access funds early as part of the temporary coronavirus and early access to super rules. (This option is now closed).
Progress of QSuper/Sunsuper discussions
Show content

New minimum drawdown levels (Income account)
Show content
The Australian Government has announced a temporary reduction to superannuation minimum drawdown requirements for account-based pensions (such as QSuper’s Income account) and similar products by 50% for 2019-20 and 2020-21.
Viewers asked a number of quite specific questions relating to their personal financial situation. Personal financial advice is outside the scope of information we can provide during an online broadcast, or a general information article. However, QSuper does offer members access to over-the-phone financial advice on specific topics related to your QSuper account. And in more general terms, here are some common investment-related questions we can answer.
