May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month and on Wednesday 3rd May, QSuper employees, including members of our Board and Executive Committee attended the annual candle lighting vigil at South Bank to honour those who have lost their lives as a result of domestic and family violence.
Over 600 candles were lit to honour those who have lost their lives at the hands of someone close to them in the past year.
Former Australian of the Year and domestic and family violence campaigner Rosie Batty joined senior representatives of government, Police and Emergency Services, victims’ families and members of the Brisbane community to remember lives lost and provide support and solidarity to those left behind.
The vigil was followed by the Darkness to Daylight challenge. Our amazing QSuper team relayed 110km throughout the night, raising over $2,000 to help fund the prevention of domestic violence through workplace and community partnership and awareness raising activities. Well done team!!
Thanks to everyone for their support.
QSuper is proud to have a three year partnership with domestic violence hotline, DVConnect – the leading state-wide crisis response service that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This includes QSuper funding an additional full-time telephone support officer to answer up to 4,000 more calls annually, from Queenslanders in need of support.
