QSuper is urging Queensland students to reveal their favourite books.
Partnering with the annual Premier’s Reading Challenge, QSuper is offering students the opportunity to win their school an exclusive workshop with award-winning author Brian Falkner.
To win the full-day workshop for their school, students must tell QSuper about their five favourite books.
QSuper CEO Michael Pennisi, pictured above, said QSuper partners with the Premier’s Reading Challenge as part of its commitment to education and supporting the important work of Queensland teachers.
"The Premier’s Reading Challenge inspires a love of reading in students and works to increase literacy rates across the state,” Mr Pennisi said.
Last year, over a hundred students told us about their favourite books and we’re hoping for even more young readers to get involved in 2020, our sixth year supporting the challenge."
"As long-term supporters of the challenge, it’s fantastic to see the initiative move ahead in 2020 despite the impact of the pandemic on Queensland schools. It’s a testament to the important work of teacher librarians across the state.”
Brian Falkner, who will host the workshops, has published 20 books in the past two decades and credits his inspiration to a childhood love of reading.
Personally, I’m a big fan of Roald Dahl, and Matilda would be my favourite. It’s a wonderful, whacky and creative story that shows off Dahl’s imagination,” Mr Falkner said.
“I’m looking forward to hosting workshops at two Queensland schools, which will focus on the creation of stories, how to craft believable, empathetic characters who go on a journey, and how to make others want to read it.”
