Former heavyweights of Australian politics, Julia Gillard and Quentin Bryce, and iconic award-winning singer Christine Anu have joined forces with QSuper to celebrate women and girls, and to help raise the financial literacy bar for Queenslanders.
Almost one in two Australian women (41%)1 find money decisions overwhelming and women, on average, retire with half the super balance of men2.
We want to help make a change through improving the financial literacy of Queensland women and celebrate their contributions and opportunities, in a concerted effort to bring about financial gender equality.
To that end, QSuper has extended our financial and educational resources to WOW Australia 2020 in Brisbane on 2-5 April 2020. WOW is a global initiative supporting women and girls, action and change. WOW is aimed at girls, boys, women and men, and celebrates female achievements and takes a frank look at the lives of women and girls and the obstacles that prevent them from reaching their full potential.
Since WOW was launched in London in 2010, more than 1 million participants have been involved in festivals and events worldwide, making WOW one of the biggest global movements supporting women and girls.
Festivals have been held in Australia since 2013 and after being involved in WOW at Festival 2018 in Brisbane, and seeing the impact the events had on guests, we knew we wanted to continue to support the growth of such an important cause.
Former Australian prime minister Julia Gillard, former governor-general Quentin Bryce, and iconic award-winning songstress Christine Anu have already confirmed their attendance for the 2020 event, adding weight to the importance of the occasion.
We have committed our support over the next two years as the major sponsor, and as a part of this, we will:
- Raise awareness of financial literacy with an engaging and dedicated speaking event;
- Participate in panel discussions to break down the taboo of talking candidly about finances;
- Offer small group consultations to generate discussion around money and money management.
As part of our partnership with WOW Australia, we are also delighted to offer reduced festival ticket rates for our members. Simply head here to secure your special early-bird price.
We hope to see you at WOW Australia 2020 festival, but if you have any questions about your financial circumstances and superannuation performance, we are always just a phone call away on 1300 360 750 or log in to Member Online.
