As part of our commitment to protecting your rights and personal information to the highest standard, we follow strict practices when we collect, use, disclose, and store your data, so that we comply with the:

- Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) for QInvest Limited and QInsure Limited
- International guidelines such as the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
Data we collect about you
We may collect and keep a variety of personal information about you, including:
- Your name, date of birth, contact details
- Your residency and citizenship status
- Your identification documents
- Your tax file number (TFN)
- Your employment details
- Information about your super benefits, and financial information such as salary, contributions history, banking details, and your applications for benefit payments
- Information about your spouse and dependants for death benefit claims
- Sensitive information with your consent, including health and medical information, lifestyle information, and any professional or trade association memberships
- Information about your investments, assets and liabilities, expenses, estate planning, insurances, income, and tax.
Why we collect your information
We only collect and hold the personal information we need to look after your super and run our super fund, provide financial advice, or to assess your job application if you are a job applicant. We will only use or disclose your sensitive information for the purposes it was provided for, unless you provide your consent, or we’re required by law.
We need your information to do things like:
- Set up your account
- Invest your money
- Properly identify you, your beneficiaries, or any agents acting on your behalf
- Provide you with insurance or assess an insurance claim
- Pay your superannuation or insurance benefits to you or your beneficiaries
- Comply with the law
- Provide you with advice
- Conduct research to improve our products and services
- Assess your job application.
If you don’t give us your information, we might not be able to provide you with certain products or services, or we might not be able to consider you for a position with us.
When we share your information with others
Sometimes we are required to give your information to other people, including:
- A person you have authorised to act on your behalf (e.g. your power of attorney, trustee, or financial adviser)
- Our service providers and advisers (e.g. our insurers, IT services and support, research and data analysis services, auditors)
- Medical, health, and wellbeing professionals (only with your consent)
- Legal bodies (e.g. court, police, regulators such as ASIC or AUSTRAC)
- Government agencies (e.g. Centrelink, WorkCover, ATO, Department of Veterans’ Affairs)
- Other organisations (e.g. your employer, your old super fund).
We may also use your personal details to send you information about super, seminars or events, financial planning, and other products and services we think you might be interested in. If you don’t want to receive promotional material or participate in market research, please update your contact preferences in Member Online or contact us to let us know.
How we collect your information
We collect information from you or your authorised representative, third parties such as your employer or the ATO, and publicly available sources (e.g. public registers, websites, social media).
To improve your online experience with us, we also use cookies (small text files) that collect information about your user preferences and how you use our websites.
You can change your website browser settings to block cookies; however, some features of the website may not continue to work as intended.
Like most websites, we allow certain third-party trackers to see that you've visited our website for advertising and analytics (e.g. Google), and social media (e.g. Facebook).
When you browse our website, our service provider may log some data for analysing statistical trends:
- What browser you're using (e.g. Chrome, Firefox)
- Your IP server address
- Your domain type (e.g. .com, .gov.au, .net)
- Date and time you visited our website
- Which pages you looked at or forms/documents you downloaded during your visit
- What website you were on before coming to our website (e.g. Google).
If you want to avoid tracking, you can block trackers with a browser like Safari or a privacy add-in tool, or you can change your advertising settings with the organisations directly.
How we store your data
Your personal information may be stored on-site at our offices, in secure premises, or in the cloud (secure IT systems) operated by our service providers, some of which are located overseas.
Your information can only be accessed by authorised staff and service providers for performing specific functions, and we protect your personal information with measures including:
- Privacy and security training for our staff
- Building security measures and surveillance
- System security measures such as controlled access, firewalls, virus scanning, and encryption
- Security assessments of service providers, and contracts requiring the protection of personal information.
