Stories of poignant moments, funny moments, delicious pizza, an envelope full of buttons and even a squealing piglet all emerged among an unforgettable array of wonderful entries in the QSuper team’s 2022 World Teachers’ Day competition.
QSuper is now a part of Australian Retirement Trust, the superannuation fund formed through the merger with Sunsuper, and one proud to take care of over $200 billion in retirement savings for more than two million members.
World Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to show our appreciation for Queensland teachers and their dedication to helping to build brighter futures for our next generation through their tirelessness, innovation and resilience.
World Teachers’ Day is held internationally on 5 October but Queensland celebrated the event this year on 28 October during State Education Week.
As part of the 2022 celebrations to thank teachers for all that they do, we invited eligible teachers and educators from across Queensland to enter our World Teachers’ Day competition by telling us about their most unforgettable teaching moment.
Great stories, better memories
Among the entries were stories that were revealing, heart-warming, heart-wrenching and sometimes quite funny, like Caroline Budgen from Middle Ridge State School on the Darling Downs who recalled a squealing wild boar piglet running amok in a classroom after a somewhat memorable show-and-tell session.
Teacher Nikki Clements, from Jamboree Heights State School in Brisbane, recalled a young student teacher revealing to Ms Clements that she had inspired her to become a teacher.
And Julie Bishop, from Victoria Park State School in Central Queensland, once received an envelope full of colourful buttons as an end-of-year thank you gift.
From all of the great entries seven winners have been named for their incredible work and as a result they will receive prize packs for their schools valued at $1,100.
Congratulations to the winners below:
