Whether it’s next to us on the couch or bedside table, or in our pocket or bag, most of us are never more than a few feet away from our mobile phone. We’ve built a reliance on it, checking it regularly – almost to the point where we feel naked without it.
In fact, as of June 2015, an estimated 31.01 million mobile phone accounts were active in Australia.1 That’s around 1.3 accounts per person! Not to mention all the tablets, laptops and desktop computers in our lives.
With all these connections at our fingertips at all hours of the day, it’s no wonder so many people find it hard to switch off. And, while it has its advantages, technology also has a lot to answer for.
