The Board of Trustees of the State Public Sector Superannuation Scheme (QSuper Board) has established several subsidiary, wholly owned entities to provide administration, advice, and investment management services to QSuper and QSuper members.
Each member of our Executive Committee manages a different portfolio. Here’s a little bit about their background and what they do.
Chief Executive Officer
Commencement date: 26 October 2015
Mr Pennisi was appointed as CEO of QSuper in 2015, and is also the CEO of QSuper’s financial planning subsidiary QInvest. QSuper has over 540,000 members and more than $60 billion in funds under management.
Mr Pennisi has 26 years’ experience in senior executive roles with some of Australia’s largest superannuation funds and investment management and financial planning firms. He joined QSuper in 2010 as Chief Strategy Officer, where he was responsible for driving the Fund’s strategy, including its product and services offering. Before joining QSuper Mr Pennisi was the Managing Director of Corporate Strategy at QIC and held senior roles at QInvest Limited (including as Interim CEO) where he drove a new strategy, advice model and implemented a suite of managed funds. He has also held roles at AMP and APRA’s predecessor, the Insurance and Superannuation Commission.

Chief Investment Officer

Mr Woodhouse was appointed as Chief Investment Officer of QSuper in September 2019. His responsibilities include leading the investment team and research into investment philosophy, market trends and investment processes. Mr Woodhouse’s role encompasses asset allocation, currency policy, fund-level strategies and risk budgets.
Prior to his role as Chief Investment Officer, Mr Woodhouse was Head of Funds Management for 10 years. He directed QSuper's investments with external service providers, including investment managers, fund of funds and consultants. He was responsible for implementing investment policy decisions and structuring potential investments with a view to increasing the value of the QSuper funds.
With over 25 years of investment industry experience, Mr Woodhouse joined QSuper from institutional fund manager QIC, where he held the position of Head of Alpha Investments. Before QIC, he spent 11 years with Stonebridge Capital Management in Los Angeles, where he served as Managing Director and Director of Research.

Chief of Member Experience

Mr Murray joined QSuper in April 2017 as Chief of Member Experience. The Member Experience division is responsible for designing insight driven products, services and experiences that make a positive difference to customers’ financial wellbeing.
Jason’s financial services experience has been built through senior management and executive roles in retail and corporate banking in Australia and the UK including Westpac, HBOS, RBS & Lloyds. Jason joins from CUA where he had held accountability for the majority of the revenue & member objectives delivered through disciplines including products, marketing, insights, corporate affairs & digital strategy. He was also a director of Credicorp Insurance, a subsidiary company.

Chief of QInvest

Ms Hughes joined QSuper in July 2015 and was appointed Chief of QInvest in February 2019. She is responsible for the Group’s Advice Business, which provides financial advice on a range of topics covering Superannuation, Retirement Planning, Wealth Creation, Salary Packaging and Personal Life Insurance.
Before being appointed to this role, Ms Hughes was Chief of Member Support & Advice responsible for the Group’s Advice Business, Contact Centre, Operations division, Technical Advice and Life Insurance Business. Prior to this role, Ms Hughes was Acting Chief of Member Experience, responsible for the Group’s Product, Marketing, Digital, and Employer functions. As Head of Product & Services she was responsible for driving the Fund’s product and service strategy to meet the financial wellbeing needs of QSuper’s members.
Prior to joining QSuper, Ms Hughes had over 25 years’ superannuation, insurance, banking and funds management experience predominantly with Suncorp, QIC, and QTC and also as a Founding Director of Lambda Group.

Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Ms Muller leads the Member Support and Operations Division. This Division has accountability for Member Services, Superannuation Administration and Business Support, bringing together the Contact Centre, Digital, Information Technology, Operations and Technical Advice.
Before being appointed as Chief Operating Officer, Ms Muller lead the Information Technology Division where she was responsible for delivering and implementing the IT strategy and ensuring alignment to the QSuper Group strategy.
Ms Muller has over 20 years’ experience in financial services having helped various organisations in Australia, South Africa and Europe transform their business through technology. Ms Muller has a broad range of experience within technology and business that includes large scale transformation projects, driving efficiencies through change.

Acting Chief Financial Officer

Mr Seccombe was appointed as Acting Chief Financial Officer of QSuper in December 2019. He is responsible for the management of the financial affairs of the QSuper Group, including reporting, compliance and regulatory requirements.
Mr Seccombe originally commenced with QSuper in August 2015 and prior to his role as Acting Chief Financial Officer was Head of Taxation Services.
With over 27 years taxation experience in Australia and New Zealand, Mr Seccombe joined QSuper from global accounting firm EY, where he was a partner in charge of the international and corporate tax affairs of clients in the financial services and infrastructure industries.

Chief of People and Transformation

Joining QSuper in December 2010, Mr Landy is currently the Chief of People and Transformation. He is responsible for providing both strategic and operational advice across a broad spectrum of human resource management and internal communications activities, as well as managing all QSuper Group change activities. With 15 years of experience in human resources and people management, Mr Landy provides advice and support to the Board, executives and management across the QSuper Group of companies.
Mr Landy and his team design business aligned people and internal communication strategies to support the QSuper strategic direction and ensure future capability needs are met.

Chief of QInsure

Mr Fraser was appointed as the Chief of QInsure on 24 September 2018. He is responsible for leading the operational and strategic direction for the Life Insurance business.
Mr Fraser originally joined QSuper in 2010 in the role of Head of Corporate Finance & Performance. He returns to us now having spent 8 years working with CUA in a number of leadership positions including Chief Operating Officer and CEO of CUA Health.
With more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry, Mr Fraser has held executive roles in the United Kingdom and Australia, in organisations including Standard Life, ITA, QSuper and CUA.
Chief Risk Officer
Commencement date: 24 February 2016
As Chief Risk Officer, Ms Finney leads the team that develops and implements QSuper’s operational risk, compliance and internal audit strategies. She has responsibility for the risk management framework including risk appetite and risk management strategy, and ensuring ongoing compliance while continuing to strengthen the Group’s risk culture. This role is responsible for relationships with key regulators and for reporting risk and compliance matters to the Audit and Risk Committee.
Before being appointed to the Executive Committee, Ms Finney was Head of Group Risk & Compliance. Ms Finney has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry, which has included senior roles at UBS both in Australia and Switzerland.
