Supporting Flight Nurses
During 2019, QSuper proudly became a Principal Partner with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) to support RFDS Flight Nurses in their bid to provide vital health care to regional and remote Queenslanders.
We recognise many of our members live rurally and remotely, and this partnership is another way we can support the health and medical needs of our QSuper community.
The Flying Doctor has supported Queenslanders with a broad range of essential health care services in rural and remote communities for more than 91 years.
With an ethos that mirrors QSuper, Flight Nurses and aeromedical crews dedicate their lives to the welfare of the communities in which they live and serve.
Part of their ongoing commitment to serve the community, requires an ongoing commitment to train and upskill, and this comes at a cost. We are honoured we can support the RFDS and have committed to financially supporting nominated Queensland Nurses who undertake the Specialised Training in Aeromedical Retrieval (STAR) program.
Supported by QSuper, nominated RFDS Flight Nurses will attend the biannual internationally recognised STAR program, which delivers all the essential aspects of aeromedical retrieval.
The STAR program is a highly immersive course that provides training for the unique aspects of prehospital, aeromedical and retrieval medicine.
QSuper’s partnership with the Flying Doctor facilitates additional access to ongoing professional development, so they can continue to provide essential emergency and primary healthcare services for all Queenslanders, including our rural and remote members.
We’re proud to be supporting the Flying Doctor in a shared pursuit of putting Queenslanders’ best interests first.
Financial support is just one way we’re showing our support for RFDS. Sharing the remarkable stories from Queensland’s unsung Flight Nurses with the rest of Australia is another.
Through our ‘Stories from the Inside’ feature series, we bring you the untold true stories of births, bruises and barren lands which you can read within The Courier Mail’s, Q-Weekend magazine.

QSuper is proud to support RFDS in bringing the Cairns Community Open Day to communities in Far North Queensland in 2019. We look forward to assisting RFDS with opening their doors to even more communities in the coming years.
