Standard contributions

Maximise the amount your employer contributes to your super.

Most Queensland Government employees are required to make standard contributions1 from their fortnightly salary of 2 – 5%.

Do you know the contribution rate you are paying? If you are paying less than 5% (6% for police officers) you may not be receiving the maximum superannuation contributions from your employer.

Members (excluding police officers)

Benefits in a Defined Benefit account are calculated as a multiple of annual salary, and each year your benefit multiple grows.

I have been contributing less than 5%. Can I catch up?

If you have a Defined Benefit account and contribute less than 5% (6% for police officers), you may be able to increase your contributions up to 8% (9% for police officers) later on, in order to catch up to the standard 5% rate.

Catching up is not available to Accumulation account holders.

Members employed by a State Government or related entity (excluding police officers)

To change your contribution rate, download and complete a Request to vary contributions form (pdf) and forward it to your employer's pay office. Some employers may contact us to verify you are eligible to catch up before making any deductions. We will aim to reply to the employer within seven days.

 

1. Some Queensland Government employers do not have standard contribution arrangements. Check with your pay office.
