International Shares

Balanced icon

This option is generally suited to investors who

  • have an investment timeframe of more than ten years
  • want potentially higher returns over the long term
  • are prepared to accept fluctuations in the value of their investment over the short to medium term.

Investment objective

To capture the return of a broadly diversified portfolio of international shares, after fees and tax.

Asset allocation

Asset allocation

When investing in international shares, you are buying a part of the companies held within the portfolio. Just as the listed companies' share prices are revalued on a daily basis, the QSuper return is also adjusted daily to reflect any changes in these share prices and any dividends received. Volatility expected in this asset class is higher than in defensive assets like cash and fixed interest.

The pie chart above shows the actual asset allocation as at 30 June 2009, however QIC, our investment manager, has the flexibility to invest within the ranges detailed.2

1. It's important to be aware past performance should not be taken as an indication of future performance.
Crediting rates differ from net returns due to a slight delay in unit prices reflecting the value of the underlying assets. Crediting rates are the returns that are applied daily to members' accounts. The crediting rates quoted for a given period apply to members who have remained in the option/s for the entire period and made no transactions.

2. Asset allocation ranges effective from 1 July 2008.

3. This is the estimated fee for the 2009/2010 financial year.
