Q. Can any of my employees join QSuper?
Answer:
These new arrangements don’t mean we are opening up QSuper to the general
public – we’re simply providing our QSuper members and their spouses with the options and flexibility they’ve been asking for. QSuper membership is limited to current QSuper members with an existing QSuper account, and their spouses.
Q. How much do I have to contribute for my employee?
Answer:
Most employers from outside the Queensland Government are not required to contribute any more than the legislated superannuation guarantee amount (currently 9%). However, some non-Queensland Government employers may be required to pay a higher contribution depending on any award arrangements that may be in place. As a benefit of employment in the Queensland Government, some Queensland Government employers will pay super contributions of up to 12.75% of a member’s salary. This arrangement is a condition of Queensland Government employment, and is not a QSuper mandate.
So, unless an employee has alternative arrangements in place, for example, an enterprise bargaining agreement that requires a higher contribution, an employee will generally receive the 9% superannuation guarantee contribution from their non-Queensland Government employer.
